American Gold Eagle issues in 2021 were split across the year. With the new design element not ready for coining right away, the US Mint issued 2021 Gold Eagles from January to June with the original design from Miley Busiek. Starting in July 2021, the US Mint issued the coins with the all-new reverse design from Jennie Norris. As of the release of these 2022 Gold Eagles, the new bald eagle design is the only one available in the series.
All of the 2022 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coins in this listing come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Individual coins come in protective flips. Multiples of the Gold Eagle are offered in plastic tubes of 20 coins or Monster Boxes of 500 coins. The box holds a total of 25 tubes of 20 coins each.
On the obverse of each 2022 American Gold Eagle is an image of Liberty. Designed in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this image was first used on the $20 Gold Double Eagle until 1933. The image is one of the first full-length figures of Liberty and is set in front-facing relief. She walks toward the viewer holding up a torch in her right hand while carrying an olive branch in her left. The design field includes the U.S. Capitol Building at her feet in the background with sun rays and a ring of stars.
The reverse side of 2022 1 oz Gold Eagle Coins comes with the new design from Jennie Norris. In its first full year of availability, the design shows the detailed head of an American bald eagle in left-profile relief.
